Johnny Murtagh, the triple Derby-winning jockey who was on the mark at Beverley yesterday, can play a starring role at Goodwood tomorrow.

Murtagh, who gained an odds-on victory aboard Karliyna yesterday, will ride Colisay in the £30,000 Peters Fairline Festival Stakes at Goodwood.

Trained by Amanda Perrett, Colisay failed by a whisker to get the better of Etesaal at Newmarket three weeks ago. There should be little to choose between the pair again tomorrow, but I fancy Colisay to have the edge this time.

Sessay trainer David Nicholls has booked Murtagh to ride Selective in the London Boat Show Classified Stakes. Selective, a smart performer a couple of years ago, is new to Nicholls' yard and has fared promisingly in his two runs for his new handler. He could now be ready to strike winning form.

At Wetherby, Tom Greenall, who will be crowned champion amateur rider this weekend, can figure among the winners in association with his biggest supporter, Mick Easterby.

Greenall, who is attached to Easterby's Sheriff Hutton stable, can score on The Nomad and Kings Square.

The former goes for the £10,050 Rocom Panasonic Handicap Chase following a decent effort on this track recently, when, after a seven-week break, he finished third to the odds-on Feel The Pride over two miles.

This step back up to two-and-a-half will be tailor-made for The Nomad, who is a course-and-distance winner.

Kings Square has a poor run at Sedgefield last time to overcome in the 'Wetherby Racecourse For Wedding Receptions' Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle.

Those connected with the horse couldn't explain that disappointing effort but it is often wise to forgive one bad run and Kings Square may be able to bounce back here.
