IN a sporting world where finances often dictate the livelihood of clubs and
associations it is refreshing to know there are individuals who are willing to do their bit to ensure the continuation of local association football.
York Under 11 Schools footballers were involved in a Yorkshire Cup semi-final clash with Sheffield which they won after extra time and a penalty shoot out.
The official for the clash arrived at the ground half an hour before kick off, waited a further 30 minutes due to late arriving opposition, performed two pitch inspections and then went on to referee an hour-long game with 20 minutes extra time and penalties added before offering to donate his match fee to
help the cash crisis in schoolboy association football.
Dave Scoreby you a true gent.
