MARCIA'S footballers enjoyed double delight this season.
Not only did the Bishopthorpe club clinch the John Smith's Sunday Morning League first division championship for the first time, they also lifted the York FA Sunday Morning Senior Cup for a second successive season.
Marcia won the league title in their third season as a top-flight club and on the back of their FA Senior and League Cup triumphs in the previous campaign.
Former Leeds United and Harrogate Town midfielder Mark Ford was Marcia's player-manager and ex-York City professionals Glenn Naylor and Kieran Darlow also turned out for the double winners.
Ford, 29, is in his third year at the helm having spent several seasons on the sidelines watching a friend in action for the Bishopthorpe club.
And his experience in the pro game brought in Darlow and Naylor, his car-companion from their days at Darlington.
The Sunday Morning Senior Cup triumph came after they beat deadly rivals Hounds 1-0 with a 52nd-minute own goal by Mick Carmody.
Marcia had beaten Hounds 2-0 with goals by Steve Ward and Steve Barlow in their penultimate game to seal the championship.
They completed their programme with a 4-3 win over bottom side Pocklington with goals from Tony Wetherell (2), Paul Goldsmith and Ian Kettlewell to finish four points clear of runners-up Derwent United with Hounds a further point adrift.
Hounds gained some consolation by winning the Challenge Trophy.
They needed extra time to beat Thorpe United, who went ahead with a Gavin Clamp chip. Hounds gradually improved but it was not until two minutes from the end that Fawcett equalised to take the game into extra time where Carmody grabbed the winner.
Bay Horse (Tadcaster) lifted the Where In York Trophy in another final which went to extra time.
They were matched stride for stride by Selby Griffin until two minutes into the extra period when a Burton cross was converted by Burlingham.
