ANGIE Hields (Cueball) was crowned York John Smith's Ladies Darts League individual champion after beating Roz Kerr in the final.

Hields raced into a 2-0 advantage against Cygnet ace Kerr who hit back with an 18 dart leg. But Hields showed her mettle taking the next leg and title in 23 darts.

Jayne Janes and Bev Harton joined Hields in the triples against Cygnet's Sue Lowery, Carole Layne and Karen Richardson.

Janes closed the first leg then Richardson sent the tie into a decider which went to the wire but Janes secured the title after some hefty scoring from Hields and several bounces out from Cygnet.

Hields also won the captain/vice captains trophy with Tracey Farmeary, who closed on 51 to seal their win against Shepherd's Maggie Beddingham-Chris Peebles.

The pairs title went to Jo Hodges-Ruth Norman (Clifton) who lost the opening leg to Richardson-Michelle Britton (Cygnet). The match included some excellent scoring with a 62 close from Hodges making it 1-1 before the decider went to the wire with Richardson being unlucky with bounce outs again before Hodges popped in the double.

The Elsie Bell Drawn Pairs was won by Sharon Neads (Flag) and Margaret Haley (Leeman), who ran Hodges close for the player of the night.

Leake's big effort in vain

PETE Leake (Cygnet 'A') shot out on a superb 160 for 15 in York Phoenix Monday Darts League division one encounter with Cygnet 'B'.

His finish came after a 17 darter and a 180 for 19 from Chris Bullen, but it was all in vain as Paul Cooper's 180 for 19, then 180 for 14, levelled before Ali Wray clinched victory in the final game.

Sun Inn thrashed Ebor 9-0 with Kev Walton hitting 20 and 19, Tony Cooper (17), Jon O'Mara (20 and 180 for 16) and Chris Thompson 16 and 18. Thompson and Cooper also hit a 23 dart 701-leg.

A fine 106 finish from Mark Jones (17) sealed Shepherd 'A's win against Huntington WMC whose Phil Chapman fired 180 for 20.

Lee Brundrett closed in 16 and Shaun Day logged legs of 17 and 20 as Acorn won at Clifton.

Acomb's Mike Harris (19 and 19) hit a hat-trick of maximums as his team recorded their first win of the season at Crescent, Andy Morton (22 and 19) and Stu Morton (18) supported well.
