A BID to forge closer links between tourism operators and food producers is the driving force behind an awards scheme as it enters its second season.
Two new categories have been added to the Flavours Of Hambleton which recognises the best of the district's food and drink producers.
Residents and visitors can now enter their favourite eating and drinking haunts for one of eight prizes in the district council-run competition.
The contest which was launched last year is part of a drive to bring together tourism operators and food producers across the district as well as promote healthy eating.
The contest will be officially launched with a special cookery day at The World of James Herriot in Thirsk.
The categories include best restaurant, tearoom, Hambleton breakfast, specialist retailer, village shop, food producer, pub food and outside caterer.
Entries must be with the district council by July 31. Judging will then be carried out in August with the final three in each category invited to the grand final in November.
