PETER Richardson has his political parties mixed up.

Labour has continually complained about the raised densities on development sites coming forward in the city, and the result of "skyscraper developments".

Densities on sites across the city have, and are, to rise because of Lib-Dem policies, with particular reference to the fourth set of changes to the Local Plan which is now to be used for planning development control

As for Birch Park, this application came to the Planning Committee while the Lib-Dems have been in control of the Council. The Lib-Dem's are the majority group on the Planning Committee and can out vote the combined vote of Labour, Independent and Green councillors.

Labour had concerns about this application, particularly the four-storey blocks and the fact they were not life-time accessible. So, if you are to blame anyone for "skyscrapers", obtain a copy of the fourth set of changes to study its implications. If you have concerns you can, as can any other resident, make representation to the Local Development Framework Committee which will meet soon.
