Mr Nicholson's concern about litter, Letters, May 9, was raised at the last Huntington and New Earswick ward committee with both the local councillors and the Street Environment Officer.
The officer and I visited Mr Nicholson to see the problem for ourselves.
Mr Nicholson's view, at that visit, was that there must have been a special cleansing of the area for it to be as tidy as it was.
This was not the case.
I wish to reassure residents that the 'school run' from Brockfield Park shops to Whitestone Drive is litter-picked on a daily basis and the whole area is monitored on a regular rota.
In his letter to the Evening Press Mr Nicholson states he advised the council of his concern but no reference number can be found in his records.
I suggest all residents contact the council on 551551 to report litter, dumping or graffitti. They will receive a reference number to be used if any follow up is needed.
Coun Keith Hyman,
The Old Village,
Huntington,
York.
