I TAKE great exception to the opening remarks about the Blacksmiths Arms, Westow (Eating Out, May 7).
Before the "upgrading" this friendly, welcoming pub was neither sleepy or stuffy, nor were there stained beer mats and dusty flower arrangements. In fact, it was one of the most popular pubs around here, famous for its consistently good food at reasonable prices served by friendly, polite staff.
No matter how busy they were you were always made welcome.
If I were the former landlord or his wife I should be very hurt by your unwarranted comments.
