CONGRATULATIONS on your admirable attempts to save York readers' lives, and to reopen to the non-smokers all the present "no go" areas which gave them pleasure (May 9). Some years ago I wrote this poem:
Smokers
Why build clubs for dancing,
To play bingo, talk and joke,
And restaurants to enjoy eating,
Then fill them up with smoke?
Everyone should have their say,
I know there is this need,
How can you tell the smokers,
They are a dying breed?
