York Archers Society are targeting would-be shooters to have a go at the ancient sport on Sunday.
The Hopgrove Playing Fields-based club, founded in 1789, are holding an open day for anyone aged ten and over to try target archery.
More than 200 people turned out last year, while almost all of the beginners' courses in the city over recent months have been booked out, and organisers are hoping the Olympic bronze success and films like Lord of the Rings will have generated new interest.
The open day is from 10am to 4pm, and visitors can pay £1 for basic coaching and to have a go.
