GREGGS the bakers, which has more than 120 shops in Yorkshire, is to open its first outlet in York this month, in line with its 2005 expansion plans.
More than £120,000 has been invested in the new shop, to be based in Jubbergate in the city centre from Friday, May 20.
It will employ ten full and part-time staff.
Lindsay Wilkie, Greggs' regional retail operations director, said: "We are delighted to be expanding into York as we see North Yorkshire, and particularly York, as a key area for our future expansion plans.
"We look forward to supplying our varied range of great value products to the many people who work and shop in York, as well as the tourists who visit the city."
