THERE'S nothing lucky about Poppleton Under-13s, who have completed a stirring treble of football treasure.
The teens-to-be team dominated a 2004-05 campaign in which they remained undefeated.
They swept all aside in the British Sugar League division one campaign with 26 wins and two draws from 28 matches and then landed the British Sugar League Cup with a 2-0 conquest of Rawcliffe.
Just for good measure the power-laced Poppleton pack beat Rawcliffe again, this time 3-1 to lift the York FA Junior Cup and wrap up their hat-trick haul - the first team in Poppleton to win all three competitions in the one campaign.
Enthused manager Adam Ferguson: "What the boys have achieved is unbelievable with only 14 boys playing all season.
"We scored 161 goals during the treble success and conceded only 31."
Joe Dale was Poppleton's top marksman with 48 goals, while at the other end goalkeeper Ashley Nelson and his defence kept 12 clean sheets.
The team, who will again play in the British Sugar League first division, would also welcome any new players as they seek to defend their triple triumph.
