MANY councillors, along with Keith Orrell, (Letters, May 6), think most York residents are looking forward to the Ascot meeting.
How many of their acquaintances have already arranged to be away from the city that week? Many people I know say they will be away rather than take second place to the large number of expected visitors.
A few more are only staying at home because of work and other commitments but would long to join the exodus from the city.
