THERE was a happy atmosphere at the National Railway Museum last Sunday when many children and adults were dressed in Forties' fashions.
Two munition workers said they had been up at the crack of dawn and had sung along as they worked.
There were picnic packs for the evacuees, a Punch and Judy show while the children waited on the platform and two talented singers, Maxine Robinson and Jo Moodie, did their last singalong trying to compete with the heavy hail which fell for more than ten minutes.
I reckon it is the first time the two girls from Berkshire had caused a flood - a pool formed on the platform away from people.
All staff at the museum coped very well and good naturedly with the crowds. We really enjoyed the event.
