NOW get out of that.

One of York's much-loved parking attendants returned to her van to find it had become the meat in a car sandwich.

Quite why she had parked on double yellow lines is unclear. Perhaps it was a momentary aberration. Or perhaps she thought, "Who's going to give me a ticket?"

But staff at CD Bramall motor dealership in Malton Road, York, couldn't resist the temptation to make a parking point.

This picture was taken by Darren Ridley after his car was serviced at Bramall's.

"The story, as I was told, is that the parking warden had parked her vehicle there to book other vehicles further up the road," said Darren.

"However she had parked on double yellow lines herself and the guys from CD Bramall decided to block her in with unregistered vehicles.

"The picture was taken as I was leaving their premises. I did find the situation very funny - not too sure the parking warden did though, she looked extremely embarrassed by the whole situation."

After paying £20,000 a day to the council in parking fees and fines, York motorists will find this picture priceless.

WILL global warming make Dunstable the new Dubai? Is hunting foxes cool now it's illegal? Would you rather have no knees or no elbows?

These are the sort of questions being pondered on new Channel 4 series FAQ U (FAQ stands for "frequently asked questions").

It runs nightly at 11.05pm, starting tonight. The questions are put to "a panel of Britain's brightest comedy stars" - including York's own Dan Atkinson.

C4 describes the show's stars as "the finest comic brains of their generation", and those who have wet themselves at Dan's routines every week at his Other Side Comedy Club would have to agree.

It's about time his talents reached a wider audience.

TWO York City fans who sought electoral success outside the Bar Walls have failed to score victories.

Greg Stone, well known to the City faithful as the one time leader of FACT (Fans Against Craig's Tyranny), stood as the Lib Dem candidate in Newcastle upon Tyne Central. He was runner up to Labour, but increased the Lib Dem vote by 12 per cent.

City vice-president Tory Simon Mallett, who once stood against the now invincible Hugh Bayley in York, was also second to Labour, in Chorley.

Meanwhile, another of Hugh's vanquished Tory opponents, Michael McIntyre, fought the Tynemouth seat and... you guessed it, was runner up to Labour.
