WINNER of the game is... Johnny's Entertainments and Amusements Ltd, which has acquired five Scarborough amusement arcades from Overplus Ltd.
Exact details of the deal, brokered for Johnny's Entertainments and Amusements by Yorkshire law firm Cobbetts, are being kept a secret, but the money is coming from the buyer's £18 million investment strategy to expand its trading division within traditional UK resorts.
Its expansion into Scarborough reflects its policy of acquiring and upgrading facilities.
Operations director Vanessa Jones said: "These new acquisitions will bring an extra element of diversity to our mostly inland amusement operation. Our main focus will be upgrading the 40,000 sq ft of floor space at the former Olympia building in Scarborough with both retail and leisure elements, in line with the higher expectations of today."
