I DON'T know how large Hob Moor is, perhaps 50 acres. M Singleton (Letters, May 4) seems unable to realise the reason that cows need to be turned out when grass is growing in spring and summer months and they add to the quality of grass and help keep it to a reasonable length.
If in all that space he or anyone else is unable to avoid cowpats then they are indeed to be pitied. Many people who would rather not see Britain made a tidy sterile surgery are glad to see the cows on Hob Moor as they have been for countless years.
