T SINGLETON writes that spreading muck is spoiling Hob Moor (Letters, May 4).
Hob Moor is a 90-acre site, most of it being ancient stray. Cattle have grazed on Hob Moor, probably for thousands of years, and certainly long before "dog walkers, joggers and sports people" were using the moor. Incidentally, this grazing will be a source of income for City of York Council, owners of the site.
Many older people have happy memories of playing on Hob Moor as children and for many today, the arrival of the cows at the beginning of May heralds the summer ahead.
