BUDDING archaeologists had the chance to show off their favourite artefacts, at a special event at a York museum.
Treasure hunters from across the region gathered at the Yorkshire Museum in Museum Gardens, for a Fabulous Finds Day. Experts from the Portable Antiquities Scheme - Britain's leading community archaeology project - were on hand to examine and identify people's finds.
The event on Saturday was organised by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, as part of Museums and Galleries Month, which runs for the whole of May.
Andy Morrison, curator of archaeology at the museum, said: "The day went really well. In total we had about 120 people, plus some visitors from the museum looking into to see what was going on. We ran a series of talks throughout the day, and they were well attended too."
