The Shepherd Building Group Brass Band returns to York Theatre Royal on Wednesday, memories still fresh of its poignant contributions to Brassed Off last autumn.
Next week's concert marks the first anniversary of the Shepherd Building Group taking up sponsorship of a band with more than a 100-year history under the Rowntree banner.
"We have enjoyed working together over the past year and look forward to the band achieving further honours in the next 12 months," says deputy chairman Patrick Shepherd.
The past year has been hectic, not least thanks to the arrival of new musical director, John Hudson, who lines up in the Grimethorpe Colliery Band front row on cornet when he is not conducting the Shepherd musicians.
Wednesday's programme spans John Williams's Liberty Fanfare to Mozart's The Marriage Of Figaro; Cartoon Classics arranged by Andrew Duncan to Richard Rodgers' Slaughter On 10th Street; Peter Green's Black Magic Woman to The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby; a Swedish Folksong to Gustav Holst's March from First Suite in E flat. Soloists will be Mark Durham, cornet, Anne Jackson, horn, and Mike Pratt, euphonium.
Stalwart player Sharon Lang has put together a book cataloguing the centenary of the Nestl Rowntree Band from 1903 to 2003, which will be on sale on Wednesday in the foyer.
The Shepherd band is also building a website, which should be accessible in a few weeks' time.
Tickets for Wednesday's 7.30pm concert cost £8.50, students and under-25s £3.50, on 01904 623568.
