I THANK your production team for my pristine copies of Tuesday's and Thursday's Evening Press (May 8 and 10, 1945!) - delivered at last, by a 75-year-old, clapped-out "paper delivery boy". But do I owe my local newsagent three pence, plus delivery?
I see, on the back page, 'Public Notices,' that the City of York Engineers and Architects Office are selling off 'Anderson Shelters' - at £1 each. I am interested in purchasing one of these memorable, sturdy little "Tin Lizzies" and using it as a garden tool shed cum nuclear bomb shelter. Are there any still left in the York area?
I have vivid memories of Mr Hitler (of Germany) giving me a petrifying, siren-suit filling three hours in one, back in April 1942...
Dale Minks,
Ancress Walk,
York.
