A GOLDEN try by Jamie Willstrop saw Wigginton emerge as the winning team at the York Primary Schools' Tag Rugby Festival finals day.
Willstrop touched down in extra-time to clinch a 4-0 final victory over Osbaldwick at Huntington School after both schools had earlier finished top of their respective six-strong groups.
This year's competition attracted a record entry of 51 teams and even the drizzle on finals day could not dampen spirits.
Seven-minute games were played simultaneously on three different pitches in an eight-a-side format with each side including two girls as players.
Each participating youngster received a medal, sponsored by MSF York, while winners Wigginton were also presented with a shield.
A total of 250 people watched the competition and York City Knights development officer Jason Ramshaw added his thanks for development programme sponsors Guildford Developments, Phoenix Software and SportsMatch.
