COUN Martin Lancelott must think we were born yesterday if he expects us to believe that this rush of renovation to our city has nothing to do with Royal Ascot (Letters, April 28).
Didn't anybody notice before that the Knavesmire grass on Tadcaster Road was a metre high, or that the railings have needed painting for years?
It is a great pity that Grassholme in Woodthorpe (home to one of Mr Lancelott's esteemed colleagues) is not on the royal route.
Perhaps then the potholes and bumps that mar this thoroughfare would be sorted out.
Paul Gledhill,
Acomb Wood Close
Woodthorpe,
