WHY is the city council always getting it in the neck over parking charges and parking fines?
When the police-controlled traffic wardens were issuing tickets not a great deal was said, probably because there were only six wardens for the city so they were restricted on how many tickets they issued. Since decriminalisation of the traffic laws the number of wardens has increased, enabling more offenders to be caught.
I cannot remember Paul Abbot blaming the police for a deserted Micklegate because of their traffic wardens and I cannot recall Len Cruddas blaming the police for their wardens having a detrimental effect on business! Maybe people just don't want to shop in Micklegate, Mr Abbot.
