YORK RI team swept to a 7-2 victory at Riverside in men's division one of the York Badminton League.

Craig Dobson and Geoff Oxley took both home successes, but lost out 9 and 3 to Russell Binns and Craig Liversedge, who took three straight wins for a return of 90-29.

Knavesmire won 5-3 at Pocklington in men's division two when Mike Lewis and Andy Limbert sealed the win with an 8 and 0 victory over Chris Gunby and John Neary in a time affected match.

Selby/Drax 'A' edged out Clifton 'A' 5-4 in mixed one with the result settled in the final rubber when Alison Dinsdale and Phil Brunyard defeated Ronnie Davison and Koichiro Muri 15-5 6-15 15-0.

Shepherds made sure of the mixed division two title after an 8-1 win at Selby/Drax 'B' where Dave Simpson and Chiara Secchi took the best return with 90-20. John Formby and Angela Spivey gained the home consolation with a 9 and 4 win over Lisa Metcalfe and Ian Eaton.

Clifton 'C' could only field two pairs at York University Staff Club 'A' in mixed three but still managed a 6-3 win. Paul Waterhouse and Gerry Screeton returned 102-66.

RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' sank Nestl Rowntree 'B' 8-1 in mixed three. Ian Sinker and Marlene Woodward returned 90-38, while Joan Emmerson and Steve Andrew took the confectionery side's consolation with a 15-13 14-17 15-3 win over Sue Maddison and Tony Kirkman.

Tadcaster 86 'A' were good value for a 7-2 home win over Huntington 'B' in mixed three. Andrew Cooper and Lucy Astle were the pick of their pairs with three straight wins for a total of 90-26.

YUSC 'A' scored a ninth rubber win over Selby Jubilee 'A' in mixed three despite Neil Richardson and Claire Frost having three Jubilee wins for a total of 90-47. Sheila Mackerel and Eng Kiat Lim sealed YUSC's win a with 9-15 15-10 15-7 victory over A and J Murphy.

YUSC 'B' had mixed fortunes in mixed division four when they beat Market Weighton 8-1 and then lost 5-4 to St John's. Sally Locker and Simon Fletcher returned 90-40 against Market Weighton. Dave Webster and Lucy Smith swung the match for St John's with three wins for a total of 90-52.

Middlethorpe recorded home wins over Selby/Drax 'C' (6-3) and Selby Jubilee 'C' (9-0) in mixed division five. Nas Shefta and Claire Dunn took all three Selby/Drax 'C' wins for a total of 90-49. Ann Oxley and Ian Thompson took the best Middlethorpe return against Jubilee with 90-21 from three successive wins.
