HOW sad it was to read of the death of Dr Walter Henderson (April 27).
I worked on the premature baby unit at Fulford Maternity Hospital in the Sixties with Sister Nell Sawyer, and Dr Henderson was a favourite doctor on the unit.
I remember one time when he was ill he had to have an operation and the staff on the unit sent him cards and good wishes.
When he had recovered he invited us all to his home where we were treated to strawberries and cream.
I should like to endorse everything Ellen Willey said.
Dr Henderson really was a very nice man, a true gent.
