Robert Winston, who is fast becoming a regular rider for Sir Michael Stoute following their joint success in last month's Lincoln Handicap with Stream Of Gold, can add to his scoresheet for the Newmarket trainer at Pontefract tomorrow.
The York-based jockey teams-up with Celtique in the £14,000 Ladbrokes Fillies' Handicap and I expect him to steer the three-year-old to victory.
In the frame in all her three starts last season, Celtique was beaten by a neck by Allied Cause at Lingfield in October on what was her final start of the campaign.
That race was over seven furlongs and the step-up to a mile and a quarter tomorrow for her handicap debut should suit her. From a stable in good form, Celtique can open her winning account.
Mark Johnston's Prejudicial, who finished second at Ripon on his recent debut despite running very green, should be considerably wiser on his second outing, in the EBF betfred.com Maiden Stakes. Royston Ffrench has the mount.
Johnston, though, has much bigger fish to fry at Lingfield, in what is a high-class meeting 'inherited' from Ascot, which is, of course, currently under reconstruction.
The Middleham-based trainer saddles two runners in the £50,000 Hesmonds Stud Sagaro Stakes and looks likely to take the honours with Nap selection Winged d'Argent.
Sheriff Hutton jockey Kevin Darley's mount has never stopped improving since last autumn and will appreciate this step up to two miles after his hard-fought win over two furlongs shorter at Nottingham three weeks ago.
His stablemate Darasim, a well-beaten sixth on that occasion, will also relish the longer distance tomorrow, but he again looks likely to play a supporting role to Winged d'Argent.
Tomorrow's tips
Pontefract
2.20 Prejudicial, 2.50 Signatory, 3.20 Hula Ballew, 3.50 Celtique, 4.20 Along The Nile, 4.50 Rotuma.
Lingfield
2.10 Azygous, 2.40 Tahrir, 3.10 Jedburgh, 3.40 Soar, 4.10 Winged d'Argent (Nap), 4.40 Sir Haydn, 5.10 Revien.
Tomorrow's other race meetings are at Cheltenham (National Hunt, evening), Exeter (National Hunt, afternoon, inspection this afternoon because the course is waterlogged in places after heavy rain), and Kelso (National Hunt, evening).
