JAMIE Pocklington made a fairytale ending to his playing career with Selby RUFC on Saturday.
In his final appearance for the club, the veteran forward scored the try which wrapped up Selby's 25-6 victory over Yorkshire One bottom club Yarnbury at Sandhill Lane.
Selby held a narrow 7-3 lead at the interval but clicked into gear after the break.
Martin Protheroe's try, improved by the boot of stand-off Dan Porter had given Selby a half-time lead they barely deserved.
When Steve Galbraith kicked his second penaltry to narrow the gap to just a point it looked as though Selby could be in for an nervy afternoon.
But Jason Cicero's catch and drive from a lineout ended with hooker Shane Sellers going over for Selby's second try.
Two minutes later Kevin Lowery and Pocklington released winger Protheroe, who put full-back Shaun Austerfield in at the corner.
Selby's 17-6 lead was improved in the 73rd minute with a Porter penalty but the icing on the cake came with jubilant Pocklington's late touchdown.
