TWO of the possibly weaker sides in division two met at Crayke where victory went to a depleted Rowntrees side under the leadership of new captain Richard Tuite.
Graeme Dawson made 44 at the top of the home order which helped Crayke recover from 13-3 to 76 before losing their fourth wicket.
Neil Davidson then produced a devastating eight-over spell which earned him five wickets for a mere seven runs and had the hosts all out for 106. Mike Hutchinson 3-47 then had Rowntrees tottering at 45-4 but Mick Jones stood firm with an unbeaten 39 as he and Tony Thomson 20 set up a three-wicket win for Rowntree.
Newly promoted Bolton Percy got their campaign off to a winning start by knocking off the Hovingham home score of 188-8.
Four batsmen contributed to a useful Hovingham score with Stuart Prest heading the table with 60, followed by Paul Deverell 40, Oliver Wood 32 and Alistair Thorpe 25. Mark Lister had 4-38 for Bolton Percy.
Jamie Rigby then played the pivotal innings when he made a superb unbeaten 93 to mastermind a three-wicket win.
