A STALWART of North Yorkshire's rugby union scene says his goodbyes tomorrow hoping he can help lead Selby to victory.

Imposing back row forward Jamie Pocklington will retire after Selby wind up their season against relegated Yarnbury in Yorkshire One on Saturday.

Pocklington, who has been restricted by injuries this season and will start from the bench, will look to play some part in proceedings in front of the Sandhill Lane faithful.

A figurehead in some of the club's key performances in recent years, he will be remembered this season for a triumphant try and try-saving tackle during Selby's epic cup tie against Hereford in the Intermediate Cup -- on a run which saw the club reach the quarter-finals of the national competition for the first time in their history.

A big crowd will hopefully be in place for Pocklington's final game, which will prove no easy task for Selby, as Yarnbury have beaten them on five of their last eight league outings.

Selby welcome back Chris McDonald at full-back with Dan Porter moving to stand-off in place of the unavailable Toby Pemberton.

In the forwards Mark Tomlinson once again starts at prop with Paul Gabel on the bench. Rob Triffit partners Jason Cicero in the second row and the back row is unchanged from the crucial victory achieved at Dinnington two weeks ago.

Malton and Norton face Huddersfield at The Gannock in North 2 East knowing only an unthinkably huge defeat can see them relegated.

York play out their season in Durham and Northumberland One with an away clash at Ryton. With 16 wins this season, it's been a satisfactory campaign but one which looks to have come up just short as far as promotion is concerned.

With the club needing a mathematical miracle, Saturday's game could be a chance to blood new players before next year's challenge.

Pocklington may have missed out on promotion, but they travel to Halifax to meet Heath in Yorkshire Two needing a win to ensure they finish third.

A victory is needed to hold off West Park Bramhope, who have surged in recent weeks and could leapfrog Pock if they slip up.

Eighteen players will be in contention for a starting spot against a side which is one of four teams locked at the bottom of the table on 12 points. That means Pock can expect to face a stern test as Heath battle to ensure they avoid one of the two relegation spots.

York RI end their injury ravaged campaign in Yorkshire Three with a match away at Thornensians.
