ON Saturday, April 2, I parked my car in the Bootham Row car park. I obtained a ticket timed at 7.22pm, put it in the car at 7.24pm and did not return until approximately 10.30pm to find a penalty notice had been issued at 7.26pm, two minutes later.
Are the attendants now undercover as another devious way of raising revenue?
I admit I parked in a doctor's parking bay which was one of four but, being Saturday evening, I could not envisage any surgeries being open for four doctors at that time of night.
The council has informed me that they are in use 24 hours a day.
Reluctantly, I have paid up. Car drivers of York, beware, you are being watched covertly.
