Fulford School under-16s basketball team lost their 100 per cent win record at the last hurdle in the English Schools' Basketball Association national 'B' final at Nottingham.
The team had played and won every single one of their 17 games away from home due to their under-size gym but lost 66-44 to Feltham Community College, Middlesex, at the Nottingham Wildcats arena in the final at their first stab at the competition.
Feltham started well but Fulford kept them in sight and were down by just a single point at 33-32 by the end of the second quarter. But the luck shifted Feltham's way in the third quarter as nothing seemed to drop for Fulford.
Lady Lumley's School, Pickering, were narrowly edged out in their round robin national final.
Fulford School squad: David Morris, Rob Turp, Matthew Cowan, Grant Bulmer, John Castle, Bobby Jones, Matthew Davies, Mohcen Cheref, Joe Knoarski, Nick Cook, Seamus Vaugh-Lucey, Amin Hussein, Tom Garbutt, Luke Britton, Ahmad Jasim and Scot Nichols.
