Should the weather prove fine on Good Friday afternoon the citizens of York would have the opportunity of enjoying a musical treat in the St George's Fields, where the City Prize Band would render a programme of appropriate music, commencing at 2.30pm. Included among the items would be the test piece for the band contest at Ilkley on Easter Monday, "Gems of Irish Melodies". It was hoped that this would attract a good attendance; there would be a collection in aid of the instrument fund. The City Prize Band would also play in St George's Fields on Sunday afternoon.

A vigorous and stimulating summer programme was arranged for the Settlement, Holgate Hill, York. Classes were to start the following week. Those who liked to make excursions to old buildings and learn how and why they were built would be attracted by the class on mediaeval castles and monasteries to be held on Thursdays under Mr FW Brooks, reader in medieval history at the University of Hull. On the same night there would be a natural history class.
