IS it just me, or is everyone else sick to the back teeth with Royal Ascot?
Joe Public (me and thee) can't afford it, will not benefit from it and won't be able to get to work on time.
Yes, I know it will benefit the city generally but it is only a sporting event. The one difference is that the royals will be coming.
It galls me that the city is getting painted and spruced up for this event. It should be clean and attractive anyway for all of us who come into the city everyday.
Who is paying for all this sprucing? It won't be the Hooray Henrys who will descend on the city in droves that week, clogging up pavements and roads.
York residents should show their support by leaving the city en masse and going to a tropical island for a week. Any takers?
