ONCE again the council street cleaners come under attack, this time over dumped syringes, yet nothing is said about the drug users.
They get their syringes in great quantities as well as Methadone on prescription from the chemist.
This is supposedly to wean them off drugs so they are not infected by used needles.
Unfortunately these people are not bothered where they leave their discarded needles or who may be injected by them, be it children, tourists or those who have to pick them up, the council's street cleaners.
The only way to rid the streets and other places of discarded needles is to get all the people who use them off the streets and place them in padded cells. Let them sweat it out.
Above all, this will stop putting the blame on the only people who do their best in keeping the streets of York clean and safe for all.
