This is the sequence of events in the hunt for Mark Hobson:
SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2004
The last confirmed sighting of Claire Sanderson. She is seen in the Comus Inn in Camblesforth with Mark Hobson.
SATURDAY, JULY 17
Diane Sanderson is seen by relatives during the evening.
SUNDAY, JULY 18
Mark Hobson arrives at his mother's house in Camblesforth in the early hours and asks her to take him to York District Hospital. At about 2am he is seen there on foot on CCTV. At 8.09am, police are informed of the deaths of Diane and Claire. Both had been violently assaulted and a post-mortem examination reveals Diane was strangled.
At 11.26am, police are called by neighbours to the Brittons' house. The body of Mr Britton was in the sitting room, Mrs Britton's body was in the hallway.
MONDAY JULY 19
Police release the names of the twins and announce they want to speak to Mark Hobson.
TUESDAY, JULY 20
Police confirm that the two double murders "may well be linked".
WEDNESDAY, JULY 21
Two people are arrested following raids on properties in Selby after reports that Hobson has been sighted.
THURSDAY, JULY 22
Police reveal a definite link between the two murder scenes, and further details of how the victims died are released.
Hobson's mother Sandra appeals for him to give himself up on a recorded message played at a media briefing.
FRIDAY, JULY 23
Police reveal they have had sightings of Hobson in virtually every police area in Britain. Detectives also receive information that Hobson was spotted in New Zealand.
SUNDAY, JULY 25
Britain's most wanted man is caught after garage owner Derrick North recognises him and armed police are called. Hobson was trying to buy cigarette papers, matches and water at JD North Garage on the A19 at Shipton, ten miles from Strensall.
