POLICE were today continuing to investigate a horrific crash at the weekend which left two people dead.
The crash, on Saturday morning, on York's outer ring road was reported in later editions of the Evening Press.
The front half of a red Peugeot car, carrying the two victims, is pictured lodged under the wheels of a street cleaning vehicle after they collided on the A1237 between the Wigginton Road and Haxby roundabout.
The road was closed for several hours - causing traffic chaos. The driver of the cleaning truck was taken to York Hospital with minor injuries. The crash happened at 8.30am.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was fighting for his life today after being thrown from his bike on the A169 between Pickering and Whitby.
Stephen Rollins, 40, from Whitby, was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough after losing control of his blue Kawasaki ZX9 while out riding with a friend.
Police said he was today in a serious condition in the hospital's intensive care unit.
The crash happened at 2.15pm yesterday near to the entrance of RAF Fylingdales.
