FINES are fine by the members of the ladies' section of York Golf Club.
For their 'punishment' imposed whenever winging a ball into the pond at the Strensall club's seventh hole has helped to swell the total cash raised for Macmillan Cancer Relief to £525.
York GC ladies' captain Sylvia Dunning, right, is pictured presenting the cheque to Karina Stead of the Macmillan Cancer Relief fund, who said: "You don't have to be a nurse to help people living with cancer and the ladies from York have done their bit by raising this fantastic amount of money for us, which will make a real difference to local people and their families."
