YORK City manager Billy McEwan was hoping to move on from a difficult week with a win over Dagenham and Redbridge at KitKat Crescent this afternoon.

Tuesday night's 6-0 hammering at Carlisle United left fans under a cloud of uncertainty with speculation surrounding McEwan's future at the club.

He told the Evening Press: "It's been a tough week and I've had to tell the boys a few home truths but we have a chance to set the record straight and show that the previous game was a one-off.

"Tuesday night is gone now - it's history. It's disappointing when you lose games. I want to win all the time and I want to instil that in my players.

"Results like that are hard to take but now we need to bounce back and move on to the rest of the season."

Post-match comments made by McEwan that he would need to look at his own future and career and discuss the options with his wife hinted at the possibility of a rethink in terms of his position at the club.

But he yesterday reiterated his commitment.

"I never said I was leaving," he said. "The situation is that the main thing I need to do is take care of the rest of the season and keep looking forward."
