ATTENTION all needy clubs, societies and charities - York City Knights are set to launch a new, innovative cashback scheme which could be to your benefit.

The novel idea is designed to not only help to boost the Knights' already impressive attendances but also assist these organisations across the York area to increase their income.

The scheme, which begins with tomorrow's LHF National League Two clash with Sheffield Eagles, basically involves participating clubs, societies and charities selling tickets to a Knights match to their members and friends -- and then keeping half of the income generated.

Knights commercial manager Peter Salter said: "We're using the scheme to try to increase our crowds and also give something back to the community, to organisations that would benefit from such funds."

The scheme will be run for four home matches this season -- versus Sheffield tomorrow; Blackpool on Saturday, June 4; Keighley on Sunday, July 3; and London Skolars on Sunday, August 14.

Any organisations wishing to be involved simply ask the Knights to send them a batch of tickets, they then sell the tickets to their members and friends, and get to keep half the revenue.

The scheme is designed for organisations such as amateur sports clubs, scouts, guides, charities, trusts and the like. In-house clubs, such as sports groups, within large businesses are also included.

Salter explained: "For these four home matches this season, we could send, for example, 50 tickets to a charitable organisation for them to sell on behalf of the Knights. Then 50 per cent of the income generated is given back to them.

"Match tickets are priced at £10 per adult, so if the organisation was to sell all 50 tickets for one match, that would be a total revenue of £500 and the organisation would receive £250 back."

Furthermore, anyone selling 50 adult tickets or more per game will be given 20 children's tickets free of charge.

For further details or to ask for tickets, contact Peter Salter at the Knights on email peter@ycknights.co.uk or telephone 01904 758234 or 07977 567424.

THE Knights Supporters Club will host a race night on May 28.

Tickets, which will go on sale shortly, cost £5 for members, £7 for non-members and £2 for under-16s. That price includes a pie and peas supper. The first race starts at 7.30pm.

JUST in case anyone is wondering, Lincoln's new rugby league team has no links whatsoever with the Knights.

The Lincolnshire side, who are gearing up for their first season in the TotlRL.com Summer Conference, are called Lincoln City Knights, taking the exact same moniker as our guys.

Maybe it just goes to show what a good name our club has.

THANK you to everyone who sent in an entry to the caption competition this week to win a pair of tickets to every one of the Knights' remaining home games this season.

Everyone who entered thought up a better caption than we could think of for this picture (right) of the two Castleford mascots at Huntington Stadium and deciding a victor wasn't easy.

However, the winning entry, as voted for by members of the Evening Press Sportsdesk, was this suggestion from Mr Garry Coughlin, of Sandy Lane, Stockton-on-the-Forest.

He had one of the Tigers mascots saying: "The Frosties job was better than this." (Presumably meaning it was better than watching Castleford as opposed to watching the Knights.)
