As one of the all-time greats, there is no mistaking Olivia's voice.
In the same way Rod Stewart that interpreted the Great American Songbook his way, Olivia pays homage to the great female vocalists who inspired her, but still manages to make each track sound like an original.
Unlike others, Olivia never tinkers too much with a melody, preferring to keep arrangements clean, lush and simple. Send In The Clowns, Summertime and Cry Me A River are perfect for her, and the inclusion of Joan Baez's Where Have All The Flowers Gone? is truly inspired. Olivia's old friend and confidant Karen Carpenter would be touched by Rainy Days And Mondays, one of the very few successful covers from the Carpenters' songbook.
