OUR hapless heir to the throne, Prince Charles, missed a golden opportunity to snub Robert Mugabe.
At the funeral of Pope Paul II, the prince was sitting two places away from President Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who leant across and offered a handshake.
Prince Charles had the chance, in front of the world's media, to refuse that handshake and send a clear message all over the world. That he failed to do so was a great shame. It was almost as bad as Foreign Secretary Jack Shaw shaking hands with Mugabe last year "in a dark room."
These two men are supposed to be "with it" when in the public gaze, but clearly are not.
