WITH the advent of new technology, identity fraud seems to be increasing compared to the old days of relying on cheque books and signatures. ("Identity Crisis", April 9).
The need to remember/record pin numbers and the stealing of records from used equipment and from the post, now seems a greater problem than people who can forge signatures.
Pensioners particularly need to go back to pension books used at handy and familiar post offices, because they are vulnerable regarding remembering or recording their pin numbers.
It looks rather as though in the name of progress the disadvantages outweigh the advantages regarding the degree of use of plastic money.
