PETER Leake (Cygnet 'A') won the York Phoenix Monday Darts League division one individual final with an awesome display of darts against Chris Thompson (Sun Inn).
Leake closed out excellent legs of 18, 16, and 20 to secure the title after Thompson had pushed him all the way with legs of 17 and 18.
Leake took the first leg against the darts with a 70 check-out but Thompson hit back with a 69 outshot for 17. Thompson then edged in front with 18 darts only for Leake to level with 16 darts after missing the chance to close in 13.
In the decider, Thompson opened up a ton point lead but Leake hit back with three successive 100 scores to go on and clinch the title with 20 darts.
The division two iIndividual final was another nail-biting affair with Slipper's Phil Chapman coming back from 2-0 down to beat Neil Hart (Clifton) 3-2.
Hart put in legs of 20 and 23 before Chapman bounced back with 19 and 21 legs. Chapman got the throw in the fifth leg and closed out in 21.
Russ Greaves (Derwent Arms) became division three individual champion after defeating Rich Saville (Crystal Palace) 3-2.
Pairs champions Kev Walton-Jon O'Mara (Sun Inn) beat Nick Harteveld-John Smith (Huntington WMC) with Walton closing out a two-dart 90 finish in the decider after the Huntington duo missed chances.
A fine 90 bull finish from Cygnet 'A' s Dave Mason gave his team the lead in the triples final against Sun Inn's Chris Thompson, Tony Cooper, and Jon O'Mara. Cygnet 'A' (Mason, Pete Leake, and Kev O'Hara) went on to take the title with a 2-0 win.
Sun Inn retained the PDL Trophy with a 4-1 win against Shepherd SC. Chris Thompson gamed in 16 and 18 before Jon O'Mara sealed the win with a pair of 19 darters.
The 'Player of the Night' went to Chris Thompson who passed his trophy to Phil Chapman after his excellent effort in the division two individual final.
Thompson retained the 'Player of the Season' award after being joint winner of the three fastest finishes and winner of the fastest pairs and fastest team game,
Thompson remained undefeated in the singles for the third season in a row and was division one individual runner-up to Leake.
