Selby Town need four points from their last two matches to be crowned Northern Counties East League champions after Saturday's 3-0 home victory over Liversedge.

The Flaxley Road outfit moved six points clear at the top of the premier division with that result and require a win and a draw from their remaining games at Sheffield and Buxton to secure the title.

Manager Bob Lyon will now be concentrating on keeping his players focussed with their next fixture not until a fortnight tomorrow.

On Saturday, visitors Liversedge started well and the Robins had to work hard before taking the lead five minutes before the break when a Chris Kamara corner found Adam Wash at the far post and he fired home.

Selby improved in the second half and increased their lead on the hour when a Wash run and cross was finished off by Cameron Stuart.

The home side went further in front on 68 minutes when Stuart had a shot well saved but reacted quickly to net from the rebound.

Harrogate Railway are still hoping to capitalise on any Selby slip-up and moved up to second with a 2-0 victory over Mickleover Sports.

James Featherstone opened the scoring just before half-time and Liam Gray's late goal guaranteed thr win.

Railway can take advantage of Selby's inactivity to move level on points at the top if they win their next two games against lowly Armthorpe Welfare and mid-table Long Eaton United.

Pickering Town's faint outside championship hopes ended after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Glapwell.

Darren Roberts opened the scoring early on for the home team with Liam Salt grabbing an 81st-minute leveller.

In division one, Tadcaster Albion triumphed 2-0 at Worsbrough Bridge.

Alan Jackson netted on the hour after the Worsbrough keeper could only parry a Greg Anderson shot.

Victory was sealed in injury time when debutant Neale Holmes glanced a header into the top corner.

Harrogate Town further strengthened their Conference North play-off bid with a 1-0 victory at Hinckley United.

On-loan Scunthorpe United striker Andy Brown scored the only goal of the game after coming on as a first-half substitute for the injured Danny Holland.

Brown had earlier hit the bar, and Matt Lewis and ex-York City forward Paul Barnes also hit the woodwork for the home team.
