YOUR article says that "York Pride covers the whole city and benefits all York residents". There is no such thing as York Pride.

In the Holgate area the grass verges are turned into mud, the kerbs are dropping and the pavements are cracking, all because of cars being allowed to park on them.

We also have pavements that are subsiding and roads which flood at the least drop of rain.

When local residents take pride in their grass verges and try to protect them from cars by placing stones on them they are told to remove them by the council which is supposed to have initiated York Pride.

It is also disgusting that the city's council taxpayers have been pushed aside to make everything spick and span for the Ascot visitors who will be here for five days, never to return.

The council will have to make sure that these visitors do not stray away from Knavesmire or they may stumble across the real York.

A P Cox,

Heath Close,

Holgate,

York.
