THANKS to the Evening Press for all the publicity given about the Straylands Grove bollard.
All those who objected so strongly to this scheme can now rejoice that good sense and the democratic process have, at last, prevailed ('Bollard scheme stopped', April 7).
The council department concerned had to deal with mountains of correspondence which they handled very efficiently. However, it is sad that so much time and money has already been spent which could perhaps otherwise have been avoided had council officers heeded warning signals much earlier.
Let us hope lessons have been learned and much more careful consultation is made before trying to push through plans in the future which affect so many people.
We can also hope the £60,000 saved can be used for other urgent measures such as road resurfacing.
Let's face it, the state of Straylands Grove itself is a disgrace.
Jean Frost,
