COULD long-distance driver Jimmy Adams have clocked up a Yorkshire record?

That is what Jimmy's bosses at York-based landscape supplies business Green-tech want to know.

Since joining the company seven years ago he has driven 350,000 miles.

"It's the equivalent of going round the world 14 times," said Jimmy, who, although fast approaching 65, has no plans to retire.

"I'll clock up another 50,000 miles this year," said Jimmy who has been a long-distance driver for more than 40 years.

"I started driving heavy goods vehicles when I was 21 and before joining Green-tech I was with P&O for nearly 20 years doing England, Ireland and the continent with an articulated lorry and a 40ft trailer."

His pet hates on the road are drivers who don't have their lights on in poor visibility and tractor drivers who refuse to pull in, even though there is a long line of traffic behind them.
