YORK RUFC's Development Squad returned from their tour of the north east with honours even.
They beat Sunderland 22-5 but lost 21-14 to Westoe.
Hooker Tom Berwick opened the scoring against Sunderland on 15 minutes with a try. Touchdowns followed in quick succession by player of the tour Alex McNeil and James Gibson, plus a Mark McDaid conversion gave York a 17-5 interval lead.
James Lund added another try after York after half-time while the Clifton Parkers also had a Matt Rowson effort disallowed for a forward pass.
York ran out of gas against Westoe after leading 7-3 at the break courtesy of a Tom Cookman try and a Jonathan Henley conversion. Westoe pulled well ahead after the interval but York fought back with a Chris Wolley try, improved by kicker Mark McDaid, but it was not enough.
