JOURNEY'S End is now showing at the Grand Opera House. On the night of January 21-22, 1944, No 102 Squadron at Pocklington dispatched 16 Halifaxes to bomb Berlin.

One turned back with engine trouble; and, of the remainder, five failed to return and two more crashed in this country, fortunately, with the loss of only one life.

The following night 16 aircraft were dispatched to Magdeburg and, again, one was forced to turn back and four failed to return.

These two nights resulted in the loss of 11 aircraft out of 32 dispatched, of the crews, 35 were killed and the remainder became prisoners of war.

There were no operations the next night so everybody went to the base's theatre where the Station Theatre Company was giving their first performance of (you've guessed it) Journey's End.
